Jolie’s Blog
EVERBODY LOVES JOLIE. . . THAT’S ME!

Jolie aka Seadog
My name is Jolie. This picture was taken as I set off on my first off shore sailing race–I was the only dog to compete in the 2007 Marblehead to Halifax Race. Next thing I know, I’m on my way south on the Caribbean 1500 Rally–8 1/2 days off shore with only a tray to pee on–what was my family thinking!!!

Here we are leaving for the Caribbean--I'm not smiling
Once we arrived, the Caribbean was pretty neat–nice and warm.

We hung out
- I visited St. Jean Beach in St. Bart with Auntie Susie and Richard

Foxy himself greeted me at his bar in Jost Van Dyke
I’m now a 11 years young Coton de Tulear–not to be confused with a Maltese or Bijon Frise–traveling the Med. My roots are in Madagasgar but I was born in the back seat of a car in CT–it’s a long story.
My family calls me “Sea Dog” because I took to living on Destiny like a duck to water. Truth is, I really don’t like to swim and even baths are a pain sometimes.

Venice Spa Day
Would you want to be seen looking like this? At the same time, I do like to look nice–I’m kinda “girly” so put up with a lot of grooming.

Carol Brushes Me A Lot

My Italian Punk Look
Since we have been living on Destiny full time my hair is very short–makes me feel like a puppy again.
I have a very important job on Destiny–I make people smile. I also keep track of things that are used on the boat, like the winch buddy and help with dishes.

Prewash--this is hardly like work.
One of my favorite spots to sleep is in front of the control panel for the auto pilot, but I have other favorite “wedge” spots as well.

My All Time Favorite Wedge Spot

The best wedge spot while underway

My Nickname is "wedge dog"
I have flown thousands of miles under an airplane seat in my Sherpa bag without complaint to accompany my family. They tell me that traveling internationally is challenging at times for the paperwork and expense, but well worth it. I agree! I have been in France, Italy, Corsica, Sardinia, and most of the islands in Croatia already, not to mention most of the Caribbean islands. Now I’m in Turkey, and I like it alot.

My Sherpa Bag is very cozy
Look at some of the cool things I get to do.

I get to ride through airports

I visited Piazza De Ferrari in Genoa, IT

I visited a Fortress in Hvar, Croatia

I rode in a Gondola in Venice

I visited a Roman Coloseum in Pula

I visited a castle in Italy

I sat in sidewalk cafes--on the sidewalk!
On days that I am not sightseeing in exotic places I get to do other fun stuff.

I go kayaking

I love to go fast in the dinghy!!

I ride in my bike basket

I watch sunsets

I go on picnics
I have a daily routine on the boat.
- Morning Stretches and. . .

afternoon naps keep me fit!
I’m very good at getting people to feed me too.

This works everytime

This is my Snoopy on the roof impersonation--especially good at dinner time

Staring at food gets me a nibble too
I also make a lot of friends. Here are some pictures of me and my “amigos”.

Celeste is one of my favorite amigos--we used to work together

My legal amigos: Ann, Celeste, Mom & Elaine

Zia Angela and Elisa are my grooming amigos

This is my sailing buddy, Dudley

John & Cyndi from Glass Slipper are really cool--they even dog sit.

Jorge and Isabel live on Excalibur. I give Isabel kisses and Jorge gives me treats.

Bahadir & Nur are my new Turkish friends that I met in Croatia. They live on S/V Tutkum with their dogs, Salty & Odie
Since we arrived in Turkey I have made new friends of both two and four legged persuasion.

I met Stephanie & Chloe in Bozukkale--they live in Istanbul

Some cruising dogs are BIG!

This guy loved me, and he was French. . .but I couldn't see it working

My new Turkish girlfriend is shy!

I met Magne & Wendy in Marmaris--their boat is called "Tropical Bird"

In Seliminye I made new friends on the M/S JUST US

Batuhan & Baran are my new Turkish amigos
My family loves me and takes good care of me–of course, there was the time that I went missing in Croatia when I jumped off the passeralle, but that was really my fault–the ice cream shop was too tempting.

They say people and their dogs look alike. Personally, I think I'm cuter.

Don't you think we have the same eyes

I'm definitely Daddy's little girl
My extended family loves me too–they are my super amigos.

Grampy was my all time favorite sailing buddy--I miss him a lot

Grammy & Aunt Mary Ellen visited me in Italy

Auntie Datesy & Cousin Phoebe love me bunches

Me with Cousin Ariel and Auntie Laurie

Cousin Betsy Loves me too
Mostly what I do is just be me. I’m one lucky Coton because EVERYBODY LOVES JOLIE.

Am I Cute, or What!
In fact my family loves me so much they had an oil portrait done in Bodrum. I’m one lucky dog.
